Students across India can look forward to a number of school holidays in November, providing a welcome break for relaxation, celebration and reflection on important cultural and historical events.

One of the most important festivals in November is Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti, Which falls on 5th November. This day is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism. It is widely celebrated throughout India, especially in Punjab and Delhi, with prayers, processions and community service (seva).
9 November
Uttarakhand Foundation Day on November 9, 2025 marks the creation of the state after its separation from Uttar Pradesh in 2000. Referred to as “Devbhoomi”, the day highlights the spiritual and cultural traditions of Uttarakhand through various public programs and events. Government offices, schools remain generally closed across the state.
Children’s Day on 14th November
Celebrations will be held in schools across the country in mid-November children’s Day On 14 November, the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, is celebrated. Schools usually host cultural programmes, fun activities and competitions to honor Nehru’s love for children and his approach towards their education and happiness.
24 November
Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur It will be celebrated in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh on November 24, 2025. The day is dedicated to the ninth Sikh Guru and is celebrated with reverence and religious rituals. Schools in northern states generally remain closed, while institutions in southern and western India generally continue their normal schedules
