The Indian women’s cricket team created history by winning the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 title at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. From Anushka Sharma, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra to Hrithik Roshan, Bollywood stars took to social media to celebrate the team’s spectacular win and lauded the players for ending the drought of almost 50 years with their performance and confidence.

Bollywood hails Women’s World Cup final victory

As soon as India sealed the title, there was a flood of congratulatory messages from Bollywood celebrities from Priyanka Chopra to Kareena Kapoor.

Actress Priyanka Chopra shared the team’s picture on Instagram Stories and wished the girls all the best. He wrote, “Congratulations to our champions #TeamIndia.”

Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor admitted that she got emotional after the win. She shared a video of the final moments of the match on her Instagram Stories and wrote, “Still crying tears of joy,” along with a heart emoji.

Actress Anushka Sharma wrote, “You champions!! Such an important achievement”, while Kiara Advani shared, “What an incredible moment, you have created history!!! Congratulations to our women in blue”.

Thanks girls for giving us our ye wala pal (We used to hear stories about our parents’ feelings after India won the World Cup in 1983. Thanks for giving us that moment). It’s for generations.”

India becomes Women’s Cricket World Cup champion

On Sunday, the Indian women’s team won its first World Cup title by defeating South Africa in the final at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. This was a historic moment. Indian women played their first match in 1976 and since then till 2025 it has been almost 50 years and they had not won the World Cup title. The team was led by Harmanpreet Kaur.

Chasing the target of 299 runs, South Africa was all out for 246 runs in 45.3 overs thanks to Deepti Sharma’s five wickets. Player of the match went to Shafali Verma, who scored 87 runs on 78 balls and also took two wickets.
