But have you ever wondered whether it is okay to consume flaxseeds at any time of the day, or is there a particular time when you can eat them and get maximum benefits? Answering this question, nutritionist Deepsikha Jain, MSc Global Public Health Nutrition, UK and National Diabetes Educator, shared an Instagram video on November 5.

What is the right time to eat flaxseed?

To get the maximum benefits from eating flaxseed, nutritionists suggest three times a day. She highlights, “Flax seeds are very beneficial, but you have to consume them at the right time. Only take 1 to 2 teaspoons daily, no more than that. If you want to make the most of their health benefits, here are the three best times to eat flax seeds.”

He said that one can consume superfoods at any of the 3 times he suggests, depending on what your body needs:

1. On an empty stomach for healthy fats

The nutritionist suggested mixing flax seeds in a glass of water and taking it on an empty stomach. “Flax seeds are a good source of fat because they contain omega-3s, which can improve your gut health and stabilize your blood sugar,” she emphasizes.

2. Avoid overeating before meals

Next, he suggests taking one tablespoon of flax seeds before meals. They are high in fiber, which can help you feel full and prevent you from overeating.

3. As an afternoon snack

Finally, as suggested by the nutritionist, you can mix flaxseeds with your fruit or yogurt as an afternoon snack. According to them, this combination provides a good source of protein and probiotics for your gut health.
