The National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has postponed the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Super Specialty (NEET SS 2025). As per the revised schedule, NEET SS 2025 will now be conducted on December 27 and 28, 2025. Earlier, it was scheduled to take place on November 7 and 8.
“NEET-SS 2025 which was tentatively scheduled to be held on 7th and 8th November 2025, will now be held on 26th and 27th December 2025. This has received approval from NMC and MoHFW. The dates of conduct of NEET-SS 2025 notified through NBEMS notice dated 16.10.2025 should be read accordingly,” the official notice reads.
The exam will be conducted in two shifts: first shift from 9 am to 11.30 am and second shift from 2 pm to 4.30 pm.
NEET SS 2025 Exam Pattern
The NEET SS exam pattern consists of 150 multiple choice questions divided into three sections, each consisting of 50 questions and a time limit of 50 minutes per section, resulting in a total exam duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. The exam is worth 600 marks, four marks are awarded for each correct answer and one mark is deducted for each wrong answer. Questions are based on the primary broad specialty topic and its sub-specialties and are presented in a computer-based test format in English.
National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Super Specialty (NEET SS) serves as the sole eligibility and entrance test for admission to super specialty courses, which include:
All DM/MCh courses across the country, including those available in private medical colleges/institutions/universities/deemed universities.
All DM/MCh courses in Armed Forces Medical Services institutions.
All DrNB super-specialty courses (except straight 6 year DrNB course).
The 13 subjects included in NEET SS are Medical, Pharmacology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, ENT, Pathology, Anaesthesiology, Radiodiagnosis, Microbiology, Psychiatry, Surgery, Paediatrics, Respiratory Medicine and Orthopedics. NEET SS is used by 156 public and private medical schools, as well as Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) institutions to admit students to 2,447 seats in Doctor of Medicine (DM) and Masters of Surgery (MCh) programmes.
