Scams at crowded metro stations are not new. But in Rajiv Chowk, Delhi, how it is attracting attention to assure it, and was calculated.
A computer recently shared his experience on Reddit, which told how a man asked as a corporate employee 570. Excuse? His bank servers were below, and he needed immediate money.
“He asked if I know English, then show me a phone -up screen, stating that he worked in Chennai and needs help,” the user wrote on the Redit. The person claimed that he would return the money after the server problem is solved.
Started adding red flags. Man’s presence does not match his story: dirty clothes, uprooting nails, and a vague ID card with a company name. Something felt.
Played with the computer. The post said, “I told him that I had an account in the same bank and I will investigate whether my server was working – I don’t.” When Scammer insisted that it was a Chennai-specific issue, the user went away.
This really means that scammers are getting better in preparing reliable stories. All this is a moment of faith.
The post has become viral on the Redit since then, many users said that they have seen similar scams at metro stations.
A user said, “When I was a regular metro user, it used to be a quarterly experience – people out of petrol, people who had lost the metro card, some friends with a snake. Just don’t say.”
Another user said, “People do not get help in a real fix from people. I have been helped in need by strangers, but I don’t see that ever happening now.”
The “exact similar script, separate station,” third user wrote.
