Amid reports of Siddaramaiah being appointed as the Chairman of the Advisory Council of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Other Backward Classes (OBC), the Chief Minister of Karnataka denied any claim on Sunday and said that he had not yet received official confirmation about his appointment.
The Congress leader also said that if orders are given to them by the high command of the party, then he would have easily accepted the responsibility.
In a post on the social media platform X, Siddaramaiah said: “I have been appointed as a member of the AICC Backward Classes Advisory Committee. The media has misinterpreted it and stated that I have been appointed as the chairman of the committee. It is wrong information.”
“The meeting of the Advisory Committee will be held on 15 July under the chairmanship of Dr. Anil Jahind, President of AICC Backward Classes Department, on 15 July at the KPCC office in Bangalore.
Siddaramaiah to interact with party high command
During a conversation with the media in Hubbali, the Karnataka CM said he was going to talk to the party’s high command about its responsibility in the committee.
“I will talk to high command today. He asked to hold a meeting in Karnataka. I will hold a meeting. I don’t know why I was made the chairman. He has announced. Will you run away if you are given responsibility?” He said.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that the face of the CM of Karnataka will change, the leader of the state assembly of appointments (LOP) R Ashok claimed that Siddaramaiah would leave for Delhi, vacate the CM’s chair.
