Heatwave Grips Nation: IMD recommends tips to remain calm and safe. Mint

Date:

With temperature and heatwave conditions affecting large parts of the country, the Meteorological Department of India (IMD) has released important security tips to help citizens to stay safe and to help avoid diseases related to heat.

According to IMD, being hydrated is one of the most important ways to defeat heat. The department recommends drinking at least eight glasses of water daily while avoiding alcohol, caffeine and sugar drinks, which can spoil dehydration.

Clothes also play an important role. IMD helps the body to remain cold, loose, loose, and breathable clothes such as cotton or linen. Tight or deep fabrics absorb more heat and can increase the risk of overheating.

Another important tip is to avoid going out during the peak flax, usually between 11 am and 4 pm. If it is unavoidable to step out, it is important to take a brake in cold places regularly and to reduce the exposure.

IMD urges people to be aware of the signs of heat disease. Common symptoms include dizziness, nausea, a rapid pulse and confusion. Anyone who experiences these symptoms is advised to seek medical help immediately.

To stay cold indoors, IMD suggests fans, using air conditioners or placing damp cloth on the neck to quickly bring the body temperature down.

These tips are particularly important for weaker population such as elderly, children, external workers and people with existing health conditions.

The IMD continues to monitor the weather patterns closely and advises the public to be updated through official channels. By following these simple but effective precautions, individuals can protect themselves and others from the potentially dangerous effects of extreme heat.
