Gen-Z has gone ahead of Rahukaal and auspicious time, now planning honeymoon and vacation by looking at the horoscope

Date:

If you want to plan a trip with your wife, family or friends, then what is the first thing that is important for that…? Travel tickets, packing, shopping or planning… the correct answer to this question is the horoscope and the position of the planets. It may sound a bit strange to you, but the truth is that now for Gen-Z, travel planning is the most important thing. Booking.com’s latest Travel Predictions 2026 report says that 74% Indians cancel trips based on astrologer’s warning. 70% cancel their vacation after seeing any problem in the horoscope or changing movement of planets. It is not that this trend of Muhurta and Kundli is new, but the way people are showing interest in it now is surprising.

Gen Z (73%) and Millennials (64%) choose spiritual trips. Astrologer Siddharth Kumar says, destination, dates, seats, many people decide everything from the horoscope. This trend is changing business and the boom of astro-tourism is coming. 64% take spiritual, astrological, or cosmic factors into account when planning—by matching lunar cycles, solstice cycles, or energy-rich locations.

How is travel planning becoming ‘cosmic’?
The tone of travel is changing now. Santosh Kumar, South Asia Regional Manager, Booking.com, says, “Travel will become more deep and spiritual in 2026. Travelers are looking for guidance from the universe, not just inspiration.” Earlier the travelers were trying to escape. Now we are after alignment. Santosh Kumar explains. “Travel is no longer just about discovering new places, it’s about reconnecting with yourself. Exploration has now become personal alignment, with the world and yourself.”

People are also looking for auspicious time on Tripi to save relationships.

According to the report of Booking.com, the younger generation among Indian travelers is the leader of this approach. This reflects a generational shift—travel is no longer just leisure, it is a lifestyle, an inner journey and sometimes therapy.

Why check horoscope before travelling?
Delhi based astrologer, numerologist and founder of Numrovani Siddharth S Kumar “In the last one year, I have advised many people on their travel plans based on their horoscope,” he says. “Interest increased 80%. 80% of my clients are repeat clients—families, Gen Z travelers and working professionals who come every quarter to choose destinations, dates, seating and rituals.” He further explains that his consultations are structured. “There are two main types of requests,” he explains. “Some have already planned a trip and want to know how to make it hassle-free. Others are starting from scratch—help choosing a place, the best dates, and matching the energy of the place to their life stage.”

In fact, such incidents have happened in the recent past, after which people have started paying more attention to things like auspicious time, position and movement of planets before travelling. Like the incident of Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad or the criminal incident of Sonam and Raja Raghuvanshi who went to Meghalaya for honeymoon. In the last few months, there were reports of many travelers losing their lives or getting injured due to cloudburst in the mountains. In such a situation, people’s belief increases that you should make your journey safe from astrological point of view.

Astrology is not symbolic here – it is practical, personalized

Do seat numbers also matter? This trend of planning your vacation based on astrology does not stop at the destination. Siddharth goes deeper. “I give advice on travel dates, seat numbers, airport gates and simple rituals. Everything is energetically assessed.” These questions are asked the most…
– “Which are the best dates to travel?”
– “Which seat to choose in flight?”
– “What rituals or mantras should be recited before takeoff?”

People who travel a lot ask questions related to the destination. First-timers choose interest based. “I ask them to shortlist some places. Then I make suggestions after matching them with astrology. The combination of interest and astrology is a win-win.”

Why are these changes visible in Gen Z?
Generation Z has grown up in the digital age, where social media, apps and Insta Lives have made astrology the new cool — it’s now a lifestyle choice, not just a superstition. Career, relationships, finance – everything is uncertain in their life, hence they get a kind of assurance and emotional comfort from experts in astrology. Therapy is expensive, but astrology seems cheap and easy.
