Elon Musk has launched his new AI-based knowledge website ‘Grokipedia’ this week, which is available in version 0.1. This website looks like Wikipedia, but is quite modern and simple in terms of design. Announcing this on X (formerly Twitter), Musk claimed that Grokipedia 0.1 is already better than Wikipedia, and that version 1.0 will be ’10 times better’.
What will you find in Grokipedia?
Users can search any topic by visiting Grokipedia.com website. The homepage has a clean interface and search bar. On searching a topic, the site gives you many result options which you can click on to get information.
Users can also login with their X account or Google ID.
According to Musk, Grokipedia will present itself as a less biased (unbiased) alternative to Wikipedia. They allege that Wikipedia’s information is ‘left-leaning’ i.e. politically one-sided and is being used as a propaganda tool by ‘far-left activists’.
gropedia vs wikipedia
Grokopedia’s design and interface is similar to Wikipedia, but with modern fonts, smoother UI, and better visuals. However, currently there is no option to edit or contribute in Grokipedia. It seems that at present the fact-checking of information is being done by Grok AI itself. This feature can be added in the upcoming Grokipedia 1.0.
According to reports, both Grokipedia and Wikipedia have different views on some topics like gender or politics. Also, information related to Musk on Grokipedia appears in a more positive tone.
What to expect next?
The first version of Grokipedia is just the beginning. If Musk lives up to his promises, the upcoming Grokipedia 1.0 version could bring a sea change in AI-powered knowledge platforms.
