India’s live music scene is going through a critical moment. From Travis Scott’s high-energy show in Delhi to Enrique Iglesias taking over Mumbai, the lineup keeps getting bigger. But once your tickets are booked, the real challenge begins: what to wear.

You need gear that lets you dance freely, stand for hours without pain, and still feel worthy of that night. Plus, there’s a tricky balance between the heat of the crowd and the cool breeze when you finally come out after the repetitions.

Stylist Isha Bhansali explains it: “A lot depends on whether you’ll be sitting or standing. The field is big, you’ll be walking a lot, and it can be dusty, so pointed heels are a strict no-no. The outfit needs to be breathable. sequins are fine, but use them wisely, too many and you’ll melt!” Her pro tip: “Wear cotton, light summer jackets, or cool denim with minimal embellishments.”

Designer Nachiket Barve says, “For a rock concert, go with rock-chic: boots, leather jacket, dark denim. For a romantic performance, soft, layered clothes work beautifully. Always dress for the weather, leather in 40 degrees Celsius is a disaster waiting to happen. And be practical, a small crossbody bag keeps you hands-free. Sunglasses are a must for the late-afternoon show, where style meets function.”

Stylist Vikram Seth summarizes the modern concert aesthetic: “Think casual streetwear. Oversized cargo or baggy jeans with cropped or fitted tops, utility jackets or bombers, statement sneakers and tinted glasses. Comfort with an edge always wins. Avoid over-the-top glitter or clubwear, it feels dated. Today’s concert fashion is all about individuality, not perfection.”

Checklist: Before You Choose Your Concert Suitable

Know your vibe: What’s the genre of music: rock, EDM, opera, hip-hop, or Afro-pop? Dress to match the artist or theme.

Think on multiple levels: Indoors or outdoors, the weather can change rapidly. Have a light jacket, flannel or denim shirt to tie around the waist.

First Shoes: Use of heels is prohibited. Choose sneakers or flat boots, your feet will thank you.

Pack Smart: Most places ban large bags. A small crossbody is perfect for the essentials: ID, cash, cards and tickets.

Beauty Basics: Dance + Makeup = Melt. Keep it minimal and sweat-proof. Go light on jewellery, focusing on delicate pieces rather than heavy jewellery.
