Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar addressed a public meeting in Danapur on Friday and promised to provide 1 crore job opportunities to the youth of the state in the next 5 years.

Speaking at an election rally, he said, “10 lakh people have already been given government jobs and 40 lakh people have been given job opportunities. 1 crore people will be given job opportunities in the next 5 years.”

He highlighted the challenges faced by the state during the tenure of the previous government, and underlined the developments made by the BJP-led NDA in Bihar.

He said, “There were religious disputes in the society, Hindu-Muslim debates…Education was a major problem; only a few children were able to receive education…Medical facilities and infrastructure were seriously neglected…There was a shortage of electricity…”

Speaking directly to the voters, he urged them to tell the younger generation about the condition of Patna, “Patna was poorly managed… When our government took control, development in the city gained momentum… Those who have seen both the phases, please tell the younger generation what was the condition of Patna before our government was formed in the state.”

The Chief Minister further said that there is peace, harmony and brotherhood among the people in Bihar and the government has given priority to enhancing the education and health care systems since coming to power.

He said that the government appointed 2,58,000 teachers through Bihar Public Service Commission. Along with this, he said that the government started free medicines and treatment services at primary health centers in 2006.

“Earlier, only a nominal 39 patients were treated a day; the healthcare system has evolved considerably… now an average of 11,600 patients visit the centers for treatment monthly…” he said.

Furthermore, he confirmed that the government has focused on the development and infrastructure of the state.

He said, “We are working towards construction and opening of medical colleges across the state…Earlier there were only six medical colleges, we decided to build more, now there are twelve…We have also built bridges, bypasses and elevated roads for better transportation…”

Throwing light on women empowerment he said that Rs. More than one crore women were provided Rs 10,000 to start businesses.

He said, “More than 1.21 crore women have been given Rs 10,000 to start their businesses, and dates have been finalized for giving the amount to the remaining women… Those who will be able to run their businesses well will be paid Rs 2 lakh to pursue the activity.”

The main contest in the 2025 Bihar elections will be between the National Democratic Alliance and the Grand Alliance.

The NDA includes Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustan Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal-led grand alliance includes the Congress Party, Dipankar Bhattacharya-led Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI-ML), Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) and Mukesh Sahni’s Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP).

Apart from this, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj has claimed all the 243 seats in the state.

Voting in Bihar 2025 elections is scheduled to take place on November 6 and November 11 respectively, the results of which will be declared on November 14.
