Some of the world’s biggest websites and apps faced a major internet outage on Monday morning, the day of Diwali. This includes popular services like Amazon, Google, Snapchat, Roblox, Fortnite and Canva. Many users reported that apps and websites were not loading or were working very slowly. The internet outage started around 9 am on Monday morning.
This problem is said to be directly related to the glitch in Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS is a cloud platform that provides servers, databases, and storage to thousands of websites and apps. When there is any problem in this service, it affects big internet companies around the world.
Users affected around the world
This outage affected millions of users in Europe, Asia and America. Many people expressed their problems by sharing memes and posts on social media. Some companies told users from their official accounts that they are working to solve this problem.
This problem has affected many popular websites and apps. These include big apps like Snapchat, Slack, Signal, Tinder and Canva. Apart from this, streaming and e-commerce services like Amazon, Amazon Music and Prime Video have also been affected.
Among gaming platforms, there were login and connection problems in games like Roblox, Clash Royale, Clash of Clans, Fortnite and Pokémon Go. At the same time, finance platform Coinbase assured users that ‘all funds are safe.’
Apart from this, UK’s tax website HMRC and France’s SFR and Free Telecom companies were also affected. AWS issued a statement saying that it is working to resolve this technical problem and the service is gradually being restored. However, at present all websites and apps are not working normally. At some places, the problem of slow speed and login still persists.
