Smartphones have become expensive after the festivals, and the reason for this has also come to light. Oppo, Vivo, Samsung and Xiaomi have increased the prices of some of their popular phones. Know what will be its impact on premium and mass models.
After the end of the festive season, smartphone prices have increased in India. Those who missed buying or upgrading the phone during this period, may now have to spend more money. According to reports, the price of some existing models has increased by ₹ 500 to ₹ 2,000. At the same time, the prices of upcoming premium phones may increase by more than ₹ 6,000.

According to a report published on Moneycontrol, there are many reasons behind this increase. First of all, the prices of memory and chips used in making smartphones are continuously increasing. Apart from this, there is also pressure on the supply chain and the weakness of the Indian rupee against the dollar has pushed the prices further higher.

Chinese brands in the first wave – According to the information of retail channel, Oppo, Vivo, Samsung and Xiaomi have increased the prices of their popular models first. For example – Oppo increased the price of F31 (8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB) models by ₹ 1,000 and the price of Reno14 and Reno14 Pro by ₹ 2,000.

Vivo has increased the price of T4 Lite and T4x models by ₹ 500. Samsung increased the price of Galaxy A17 by ₹500 and removed the in-box charger, resulting in a total impact of ₹1,500. Other brands like OnePlus, Realme and Motorola may also decide to increase the price soon.

Oppo told its retail partners that the prices of chips and memory are continuously increasing and this situation is likely to continue till the end of 2026. The company said that by increasing the prices it wants to ensure high quality products and service to the customers.

Premium models and upcoming phones- Xiaomi has recently stopped small discounts on its popular models 14C and A5. The prices of upcoming new premium phones like Oppo Find X9 series, Xiaomi 17 series and Vivo X300 series are likely to be higher than before.

Experts say that rising prices of components will force brands to focus more on the premium segment. In 2026, this impact will be more visible on premium models, while the impact on mass models will be less than expected.

According to IDC India, during festivals, brands had sent stock through huge discounts and offers. Large scale shipments took place in both online and offline channels. But customer demand did not increase at the pace as expected. Sales remained slow, especially in the mass and mid-range segments, while demand for premium models remained good.

Because of this, brands were left with excess inventory and had to decide to increase prices. IDC estimates that smartphone shipments may decline year-on-year in Q4 2025. Due to this, sales for the entire year may remain less than 150 million units.

Retailers’ warning- Retailers say that sales may remain slow in November and December. Due to increase in prices after festivals and caution of consumers, purchases may be postponed. Its impact will be less on mass and mid-range models, but the sales of premium models may be more affected.

What will happen next? Experts believe that smartphone companies will now focus on more premium and high-value models. The rising prices of components will force them to take this step. In 2026, the average prices of newly launched devices are expected to be higher.
