Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has urged people to avoid consuming undercuching chicken as a precautionary remedy amid an outbreak of a nerve-baire syndrome (GBS), a nervous disorder. Speaking to reporters on Saturday in Pune, who has reported the most cases in the state, Pawar addressed the concerns of linking the outbreak with poultry consumption, saying that there was no need to raise the chickens. ‘No need to reduce poultry’
“Recently, an GBS outbreak was reported in the Khadakwasla dam area (in Pune). While some linked it to water contamination, others estimated that it was due to chicken consumption. After a detailed review, it has been concluded that there is no need to reduce poultry, ”Pawar said. He advised people to ensure their food, especially chicken, cooked well to prevent health complications.
‘Doctors have advised to cook food well’
GBS can be triggered by infection, and contaminated water and food, especially with the camilyobacter Jejuni bacteria. “Doctors also recommend that the food be cooked well. The position of GBS is under control, and there is no need to reduce poultry, ”Pawar said.

Meanwhile, a new case was reported on Saturday, according to health officials, the total number of suspected and confirmed GBS infections in the state was brought in 208. GBS is a rare condition in which a person’s immune system attacks peripheral nerves, resulting in muscle weakness, loss of sensation in organs, and problems in swallowing or breathing. The exact cause of GBS is unknown, but it often occurs after a bacterial or viral infection, such as food poisoning, respiratory infection, and gastrointestinal infections.
