Ariana Grande is all set to play the lead role in the upcoming film Wicked: For Good. The film, releasing on November 21, is the sequel to last year’s musical fantasy Wicked. The Thank U, Next hitmaker plays Glinda while Cynthia Erivo appears as the Wicked Witch of the West.
The promotional tours for the film are underway and going on at a rapid pace. In one such interview, Grande praised the film’s director Jon M. Chu.
“John Chu is the most empathetic, well-intentioned, talented and thoughtful human being with an intuitive understanding of the human experience,” he said in a statement.
Grande said the director’s “heart and character” permeated every part of the film. He also praised her for shooting two projects simultaneously, and staying in the moment despite the sudden change in tone and schedule.
He added, “But he never blinked. No one could have told this story better than John. It was absolutely his destiny to make these films.”
What to expect from the wicked: for good?
There are a lot of expectations from this film after the success of the first part which released last year. In addition to the two leading ladies, other actors include Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero; Ethan Slater as Bok; Marisa Bode as Nessarose; Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible; and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz.
The Cowardly Lion is voiced by Colman Domingo.

Being a musical, the first film had many memorable songs. The same can be expected in the sequel. According to Deadline, apart from the return of ‘I’m Not That Girl’, there will also be some new songs in the film.
‘For Good’, sung by Glinda and Elphaba, will be one of the main songs in the film, along with ‘Thank Goodness’, sung by Glinda, Madame Morrible and the Citizens of Oz.
The presence of director Chu will unify the two films and ensure continuity of the story in a seamless manner. In an interview, the director told Deadline that he cut both films at the same time.
With so much fanfare, fans will be eagerly waiting for this musical when it releases in theaters on November 21.
