No, under Section 17 and Section 18 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950 “a person cannot be enrolled as a voter at more than one place in the same constituency or in more than one constituency in view of the provisions contained therein”.
Once registered, voters can change their nomination by filling Form 8, which is the Election Commission’s form for changing residence or correcting errors.
nationwide sir
The Election Commission has already conducted Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar and plans to implement it across the country soon.
The Election Commission had cited “repeated entries in the voter list” as one of the reasons for conducting the SIR in Bihar.
“Some voters obtain registration at one place and then change their place of residence and get themselves registered at another place without removing their names from the voter list of the place of initial residence. This has given rise to the possibility of repeated entries in the voter list,” the Election Commission had said in its June 24 order for the SIR.
