Actor Asrani Passes Away: The famous ‘jailer’ of the film ‘Sholay’ and veteran Bollywood actor Govardhan Asrani is no more with us. He died on Monday afternoon. He was 84 years old.
New Delhi. ‘British era jailer’ Veteran Bollywood actor Govardhan Asrani died on Monday at the age of 84. Born in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Asrani worked in more than 350 films in a career spanning five decades.
Let us tell you, Asrani had worked in many great films in his career like Sholay, Bawarchi, Abhiman, Anamika, Ajnabee, Chhoti Si Baat and Rafuchakkar. He was last seen in the year 2023 in Nonstop Dhamaal and Dreamgirl 2.
Asrani was born in a Sindhi middle class family. His father shifted to Jaipur after partition and opened a carpet shop. He had four sisters and three brothers. Some took over the family business but Asrani chose a completely new path. Till date people remember him as the jailer of Sholay in his career.
Asrani did his graduation from Rajasthan and then did further studies from Xavier School. He started his career as a voice artist. Then he moved into films and his first film was Hare Kanch Ki Chudiyan (1969). Later, he appeared in many supporting roles and gained a lot of fame.
